XR / Headsets and devices / PICO headsets

PICO headsets for training programs

Standalone VR with colour passthrough and enterprise device management: the headset the Mater program ran on, and a common fleet in education.

In a real room

An enterprise fleet, ready on the day

Mater Education’s speaking-up program ran on Pico Neo 3 headsets, and its facilitators ran the technology themselves.

Programs

Which programs run on it

The Library titles run on PICO, and the published Mater program ran on Pico Neo 3.

The PTR VR Library, and the Mater program before it

PTR VR Library titles run on standalone headsets such as Meta Quest and PICO, so speaking up for safety, clinical conversations and de-escalation programs run here in a facilitated workshop. The Mater case study is the program that ran on it.

What it does in a real room

PICO states "2160 × 2160 pixels per eye" and "Two 32MP Color Seethrough Cameras" for the PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise, so a scene can replace the room or keep it (PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise). The PICO 4E is sold as an enterprise headset compatible "with a wide range of MDM services".

Virtual reality at PTR covers what the replaced room adds to practice.

The fleet

What a fleet needs

PICO ships a business device manager and a business store, so a fleet is enrolled, updated and locked to the training titles from a desk.

Device management built for a fleet

ArborXR manages PICO beside Meta and HTC and lists People Tech Revolution with device support for all of them; headsets and equipment lists the accounts, wifi and charging questions to settle before a session.

Who chooses it

Hospitals, universities and RTOs that buy through enterprise channels, want the fleet locked to its purpose, and run sessions with their own facilitators.

Clinical educators, education and procurement and tenders describe the fit from their side.

What PTR ships

What PTR ships on it

The Library titles ship on PICO, and a custom program in Unity or Unreal Engine lands on the same fleet.

A clinician wearing a headset sits knee to knee with a simulated client who is talking and gesturing, in a plain consulting room.
A clinician rehearses the hard conversation.

Library titles, and programs like Mater’s

Mater’s clinicians rehearsed the conversation they dread with a simulated patient who answers back, then debriefed on what they chose. An XR fast build puts your own scenario on a PICO fleet before production begins.

Questions

What do buyers ask about PICO headsets?

Short answers, each with a link to the page that answers in full.

Inspecting the headset lenses.

Which PICO headset should a fleet buy?

PICO’s enterprise models pair the headset with its business device manager, and PTR agrees suitable hardware with you when a session is planned. Headsets and equipment names the families and the IT questions.

Can facilitators run it without PTR in the room?

Mater Education’s facilitators were trained to run the technology themselves, and partner trainers run PTR scenarios in their own rooms.

A participant tests hand movement while a coach observes. A VR training scenario for immersive XR.

Does a PICO program move to Meta Quest later?

A build for standalone headsets runs across the class, so a program started on PICO moves with the fleet. Meta Quest 3 covers the other common family.

Over the past six months, XRHealth Australia has worked closely with People Tech Revolution to co-design innovative immersive applications... supporting workplace mental health and recovery in the transport industry. Simon and his team have been exceptional collaborators: creative, responsive and genuinely committed to human-centred design. Their ability to understand clinical and operational needs and translate complex ideas into safe, realistic VR environments has made the partnership both productive and enjoyable. Together, we are developing practical, evidence-informed tools that build confidence, resilience and coping strategies through structured, real-world scenarios. I highly recommend People Tech Revolution as a trusted technology partner.

I don't think role plays will ever cut it again in this space. Participants are able to empathise and discuss the experiences... with detail that just wouldn't be possible without actually experiencing it themselves.
