Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S for training programs

The standalone headset most of PTR’s ready-to-run titles ship on: VR with the room replaced, or mixed reality with the room kept.

In a real room

The headset in the training room

No PC, no cable, no tracking towers: a Quest goes on, the scenario loads, and the debrief happens in the same room.

The PTR VR Library, and every custom VR build

PTR VR Library titles run on standalone headsets such as Meta Quest, so bias and inclusion, de-escalation and speaking up for safety programs run here in a facilitated workshop. A custom build sets the same practice in recreations of your own rooms.

What it does in a real room

Quest 3 and Quest 3S carry "Full color passthrough (4MP, 18 PPD)" in Meta’s own comparison, so a scenario can keep the real ward or depot in view and add the counterpart to it. Quest 3 shows "2064 x 2208 pixels per eye"; Quest 3S "1832x1920 pixels per eye", with the same processor.

Which reality fits a given moment is the question VR, AR or MR answers.

The fleet

What a fleet needs

Sessions run in turns, so a group needs fewer headsets than people, and the count is agreed at planning.

Accounts, a device manager and a charging routine

Meta states that "Meta Quest commercial devices are no longer available for sale" and that existing customers keep Meta Horizon managed services for Quest 3 and 3S until 4 January 2030 (Meta for Work). A consumer Quest 3 or 3S under a device manager such as ArborXR is the current path; headsets and equipment lists the IT questions to settle before the kit arrives.

Who chooses it

Educators and safety leads who want a headset their own facilitator can run, a price of admission the budget already understands, and a title that is ready on the day. Quest 3S suits a larger fleet of the same scenario; Quest 3 suits a program where sharper text and a wider view matter.

L&D leaders and safety leads describe the fit from their side.

What PTR ships

What PTR ships on it

The Library titles ship here, and a custom build in Unity or Unreal Engine lands on the same headset.

Everyday Inclusion, Lift VR and their siblings run standalone; an XR fast build puts a working version of your own scenario on a Quest before production begins, so the people who will use it decide on something they have stood in.

Questions

What do buyers ask about Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S?

Short answers, each with a link to the page that answers in full.

Inspecting the headset lenses.

Do we buy Quest 3 or Quest 3S?

Both run the same titles and the same passthrough. Choose Quest 3 where a scenario relies on reading text or a wide view; choose Quest 3S where the fleet is large and the scenarios are short conversations. PTR agrees suitable hardware with you when a session is planned.

Do learners need controllers?

Library scenarios use limited controller input, and a headset can run hand tracking where a build supports it. Seated, slower-paced experiences suit most people, and glasses can usually stay on. How a pilot runs covers the setup on the day.

How do we clean a headset between learners?

Meta’s care steps, a dry microfibre cloth and a washed facial interface, plus what an Australian health guideline adds for shared clinical use, are set out on headsets and equipment.

Over the past six months, XRHealth Australia has worked closely with People Tech Revolution to co-design innovative immersive applications... supporting workplace mental health and recovery in the transport industry. Simon and his team have been exceptional collaborators: creative, responsive and genuinely committed to human-centred design. Their ability to understand clinical and operational needs and translate complex ideas into safe, realistic VR environments has made the partnership both productive and enjoyable. Together, we are developing practical, evidence-informed tools that build confidence, resilience and coping strategies through structured, real-world scenarios. I highly recommend People Tech Revolution as a trusted technology partner.

I don't think role plays will ever cut it again in this space. Participants are able to empathise and discuss the experiences... with detail that just wouldn't be possible without actually experiencing it themselves.
