Seeing the day from the other chair

A resident refuses help, a family member is angry at the desk, a footpath ends in a kerb: small exchanges that decide how a day feels for someone with a disability, and for the person supporting them.

PTR's delivered work here is Central Coast Council's disability-awareness program. The same first-person method is what it is building for aged care.

Raising awareness of disability

A VR experience that lets community members, businesses and council staff feel, briefly and safely, what everyday barriers are like from the inside.

A first-person view, delivered more than 200 times

Co-designed with the Council's Access and Inclusion Reference Group, whose members appear in the build, the experience gives a first-person view of a beach and a shopping centre with a disability.

It is now used in teacher training, internal council training and CSIRO-facilitated sessions across the Central Coast.

What practice looks like in aged care

The kitchen table, the garden bench, the hallway rail: the conversations care staff rehearse, built with the same method as the delivered work.
