# Immersive and AI practice for associations and peak bodies

Give members the conversation their profession keeps asking them to have, and evidence they can log.

The moment

## Start with a member’s professional task

Explaining a concern, challenging an instruction, managing a complaint, discussing an ethical conflict. Choose the conversation members meet in practice, then decide whether a headset, a browser or a facilitated room suits it.

A co-founder makes a point at a boardroom table.

An events coordinator briefs two colleagues.

A video call of six people in their own rooms.

The rules

## What members’ CPD schemes ask

Membership, certification and statutory registration can carry different obligations. Each scheme decides what counts.

Practising feedback in a ward scenario.

### Australia: each National Board sets its own standard

The [Nursing and Midwifery Board’s CPD standard](https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/registration-standards/continuing-professional-development.aspx) and the [Medical Board’s](https://www.medicalboard.gov.au/Registration/Obligations-on-Medical-Practitioners) differ. Identify members’ professions, registration categories and exemptions before describing a CPD pathway.

A charge nurse briefs nurses at the ward station.

### Nursing and midwifery: learning tied to practice

[NMBA guidance](https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Registration-Standards/Understanding-CPD-for-nurses-and-midwives) describes annual CPD with structured reflection on how learning applies to practice: learning needs, activities, outcomes and reflection. Design the member record around those, not around an event booking.

A GP welcomes a patient across the desk.

### Medicine: three kinds of CPD

Under the [Medical Board’s framework](https://www.medicalboard.gov.au/Registration/Obligations-on-Medical-Practitioners), doctors need a professional development plan and CPD across educational activities, reviewing performance and measuring outcomes. Its [examples](https://www.medicalboard.gov.au/Professional-Performance-Framework/CPD/Types-of-CPD) include active learning; confirm classification with the CPD home.

A seated manager addresses a colleague.

### Accounting: CPA Australia and ethics

[CPA Australia’s CPD policy](https://www.cpaaustralia.com.au/professional-development/continuing-professional-development) includes workshops, conferences and online learning, and an [ethics requirement](https://www.cpaaustralia.com.au/professional-development/continuing-professional-development/ethics-requirements-for-cpd). For verifiable ethics CPD, a completion certificate or attendance confirmation is accepted; registration emails are not.

A team leader checks in with a colleague.

### United States: a state licensing example

[New York’s CPE guidance](https://www.op.nysed.gov/professions/certified-public-accountants/mce-questions-answers) for certified public accountants sets annual learning, ethics requirements and acceptable provider routes. It is one state’s licensing rule, not a US-wide standard.

Who decides

## The member’s scheme decides what counts

Members remain responsible for their records and declarations. Establish any provider approval before advertising credit.

An employee speaks carefully, hands together.

### What an association can offer members

A realistic scenario, feedback, a reflection prompt and a completion record in the scheme’s own terms. Whether that counts, and in which category, is for the scheme or CPD home to confirm.

Running it

## Four planning prompts for an education team

Planning aids for choosing, running and recording a member session.

Three planners discuss a design idea.

### Choose a member scenario

Member role, jurisdiction, the recurring conversation, the learning need, the relevant code, observable behaviour, feedback and a reflection prompt. Use fictional cases, reviewed by practising members.

A participant in a headset in a large hall.

### Run it at a conference

Plan participant flow, briefing, facilitators, accessible alternatives, equipment cleaning and a technical fallback, with a private space to debrief. Record the learning separately from sponsor sessions.

A mentoring session run inside a headset.

### Run it online

Decide live or self-paced, supported devices, time zones and how members pause and get help. An [AI roleplay partner](https://peopletechrevolution.com/ai/ai-roleplay-practice) runs in a browser on a laptop or phone.

A wheelchair user chairs a three-person meeting.

### Prepare evidence members can log

Date, activity, provider, objectives, practice area, actual learning time, participation evidence and the member’s own reflection, shaped to the scheme’s template.

The evidence

## Where these conversations have been rehearsed

Evidence from workplaces and clinical education, each labelled by who produced it.

An office scenario from the Google training.

### Peer reviewed and client evaluated

A [Google study](https://peopletechrevolution.com/work/case-studies/google-vr-dei-training) evaluated VR inclusion training built with Equal Reality, a subsidiary of People Tech Revolution, and Mater Education’s own evaluation covers its [speaking-up program](https://peopletechrevolution.com/work/case-studies/mater-speaking-with-good-judgement). [All case studies](https://peopletechrevolution.com/work/case-studies).

How it runs

## In the room, or wherever members are

Members rehearse in a [VR headset](https://peopletechrevolution.com/xr/virtual-reality) at an event or with an AI partner online, then reflect.

A coach leans towards a practice partner.

Two colleagues, a panel of replies between them.

A manager rehearses a feedback conversation.

Questions

## What association education leads ask first

Short answers.

A supervisor at a front desk.

### How do members get access at scale?

Member sign-in, regional access, concurrent use, accessibility, support, and what happens when membership lapses. Ask to see record export and reporting.

### What role do sponsors have?

Agree who chooses scenarios and approves content, how sponsorship is disclosed, and that sponsors receive no participant information without consent.

A practitioner draws the boundaries around an AI station.

### What happens to member data?

Ask for a data map covering voice, transcripts, scores and reflections: where it is processed, who can access it, retention, and whether it trains AI models. See [PTR’s governance page](https://peopletechrevolution.com/about/governance).

### Who reviews AI feedback?

Appoint a qualified reviewer to check professional accuracy and cultural assumptions, and set out how members can challenge feedback.
