# Case studies

What organisations asked for, what their people practised, and what changed afterwards.

Each case study names what was built and how the client experienced it. Google and Mayo Clinic were also independently peer reviewed and published; for the academic detail, see [Research and evidence](https://peopletechrevolution.com/work/research-evidence).

## The case studies

### Mater Education: Speaking with Good Judgement

PTR brought branched VR scenarios into Mater Education's Speaking with Good Judgement culture program, letting healthcare staff practise psychologically safe feedback conversations inside familiar hospital environments.

Delivered face to face to more than 60 participants across Mater's Queensland campuses. Mater Education's program evaluation found 93% enjoyed the experience and 96% wanted more VR based learning.

### Mayo Clinic: A Day In A Lifetime

Built by People Tech Revolution and co-designed with Mayo Clinic nursing staff from their own lived experience, this series of short VR scenarios helps nurse leaders confront bias, racism and difficult conversations.

Delivered to more than 1,100 nurse and social worker leaders across three campuses, and published in a peer reviewed Journal of Nursing Administration paper.

### Google: VR DEI training

PTR co-founder Leonie Sanderson co-designed four VR scenarios with Google's DEI volunteers, putting trainees inside a difficult workplace situation from two different perspectives. Published as a peer reviewed case study at CHI 2024: 10 of 11 testers who answered the optional survey said the scenarios felt real.

### Metro Trains: Driving change

With Grit Leadership, PTR delivered three VR workshops using the Everyday Inclusion module, helping Metro Trains' operational leaders see how policy and culture can limit women in roles like train maintenance.

### Etihad Airways: Flying towards inclusion

With Utano Global, PTR ran a two-day immersive VR pilot for Etihad cabin crew, combining the Everyday Inclusion and Mind Shift modules with yarning circle discussion to build cross-cultural awareness across 36 participants.

### Central Coast Council: Raising awareness of disability

Co-designed with the Council's own Access and Inclusion Reference Group, this VR experience gives a first-person view of navigating a beach and a shopping centre with a disability.

Delivered more than 200 times across the community, including in teacher training, council staff training and CSIRO facilitated sessions.

### FoodStream Network: Cook It

PTR partnered with FoodStream Network on Cook It, a hands-on food education program for New York City schools that replaces textbook lessons with cooking, teaching nutrition, maths and cultural appreciation to students from migrant backgrounds.

### Cornell University: Everyday Inclusion

Co-designed with Cornell University and diversity and inclusion expert Angela Winfield, Everyday Inclusion is a three-part VR experience exploring unconscious bias, microaggressions and intersectionality.

### J.P. Morgan: an inclusion pilot its own teams ran

Local J.P. Morgan staff ran VR inclusion events from Equal Reality, a subsidiary of People Tech Revolution, in several countries, without on-site support.

### Domain Group: feeling exclusion before the workshop

Domain staff experienced bullying and exclusion in Equal Reality VR, then took it into workshops run with mwah.

### ViacomCBS: bias training people took remotely

Equal Reality web-based VR and facilitated video workshops, built when staff could not share headsets.

### A major bank: inclusion practised at the counter

Bank staff felt a customer being refused for his sexuality in Equal Reality VR, then practised speaking up.
