Rehearsing an escalation, one step at a time. ### A share, not a surge New Zealand’s own weekly series registers searches in only a few weeks of the year, too few to show a trend. What the country ranking shows is attention: of all the searching New Zealanders do, more of it goes to this training than anywhere else. An intake desk, a visitor raising their voice. ### What the attention sits on Assaults on Health New Zealand hospital staff reported in the twelve months to June rose each year: 6,001 (2023), 6,635 (2024) and 7,777 (2025) ([RNZ](https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/health/573779/hospital-system-under-pressure-blamed-for-increased-staff-assaults), from Health NZ figures). A country that searches hard for de-escalation training is also one where the need is being counted. Workplace violence ## Canada and New Zealand tie at the top For workplace violence training, Canada and New Zealand both scored 100, with the United States at 80 and Australia at 40. A triage decision under pressure. ### One phrase, shared across the Pacific Workplace violence is the phrase American buyers search, and New Zealand searches for it as heavily as Canada. Australia ## Occupational violence is Australian vocabulary Australia scored 100 for occupational violence, with Canada next at 75 and the United States and Singapore at 37. Notes written straight after the session. ### How do I read a score of 100? It marks the country where the term takes the biggest share of all searching, not the country with the most searches. A large country can search more often and still score lower. A participant practises placing a shape on the gallery floor. ### Why is St Helena left out? The island territory scores high on several terms, because in a place that small a handful of searches moves the share. We list the countries whose scores rest on enough searching to read.
