# Event experiences and activations

Run as a live session, an immersive build becomes part of a workshop, conference slot or scheduled activation. A facilitator sets the pace as the group moves through it together.

Key takeaway

Choose a live session when the discussion matters as much as the experience, and a standing installation when drop-in access matters more.

In a live Fast Build session, participants still practise under pressure in a safe environment and make their own choices.

In February 2024, PTR and Utano Global delivered a two-day immersive VR training pilot for Etihad Airways cabin crew using content from the PTR Library. The scheduled workshop paired VR modules with facilitated discussion sessions instead of running as a self-serve booth.

A live session puts the technology and group discussion together in the room, as they were across the Etihad workshop's two days.

A facilitator can set the pace and adapt the session to the group. That requires staff time and a scheduled place in the program, while a self-serve installation can remain available to people passing by.

A group gathered around one bright thing.

## One thing in the middle, and everyone facing it.

An activation works because a group is pointed at the same thing at the same time. People who would never book themselves into a session will stand and watch someone else go first, and the discussion starts before their own turn does.

The facilitator is what separates that from a machine switched on in a foyer: the pace changes with the group, and the conversation is treated as part of the session rather than something that happens afterwards.
